The Echuca Cemetery dates from 1860 and remembers many early settlers and founding residents of the local community.
Notable individuals buried at the cemetery include:
- Henry Hopwood (1813 – 1869) – who is noted as the founder of Echuca and entrepreneur
- Ann Duke (1838 – 1914) – who was present at the Eureka Stockade and helped stitch the original Eureka Flag
- Alfred Wren (1837 – 1879) – local photographer who erected a grand mausoleum for his eventual death
- Falkiner family grave – prominent family who owned and operated Perricoota Station
- Henry Wordsworth (1834 – 1865) – grandson of English Poet Laureate William Wordsworth

The online search allows members of the public to search for individuals remembered in the cemetery. While all care and attention has been taken, it is important to note that the Echuca Cemetery Trust makes no guarantees about the accuracy of the information provided and therefore the information is provided as a work in progress. The Trust is also only able to publish certain prescribed information as directed by the Department of Health.
Burial Options and Layout
The cemetery is divided into sections, some by denominations, and there are approximately 14,000 individuals buried in the cemetery.
We offer a range of burial choices including lawn graves with plaques, lawn graves with headstones, monumental graves, vault graves and children’s graves. Graves can typically accommodate two burials.
We also have several options for the memorialisation of cremated remains including a memorial garden, garden granite wall, traditional niche wall, and ashes pod garden. All have single and companion positions available. There is also a special area for returned service men and women.
